General Boarding

Traveling is already stressful enough and finding a kennel, pet sitting service, or boarding service for your pet is not something you want to do last minute. Let Forte Animal Hospital take some of the load off by providing a loving temporary home for your pet.

We provide pet boarding as a service to our clients. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff. Pets with medical conditions requiring medication can be treated while they are here. We also offer day care for puppies and kittens or pets who may need some extra attention while you are away or at work. Pets may be dropped off and picked up during regular business hours Monday through Saturday.

For many animals, time may be needed to fully adjust to boarding. Cats, for example, react much differently to strange surroundings than do dogs. Cats hate change! This is why your cat may prefer to stay caged at least in the beginning, as it provides a protected feeling for the animal. Do not be alarmed if when your cat arrives, instead of running around like he does at home, he sits in a corner and stares. Dogs, however, love to run around in order to get acquainted with a new area. When leaving your pet with us, feel free to bring your pets usual food and favorite toys, your pet will always appreciate familiar things from home.

Boarding services can distress any animal quite a bit, which may affect your pet’s immune process, eating, and digestive habits. Understand that we will do everything possible to reduce and minimize this stress, but there are also ways you can help make the boarding experience enjoyable for your pet. The more often your pet boards, the better adjusted she becomes, so utilize our pet daycare services so that when you take a longer vacation the change won’t be so drastic for your pet.

Just as your pet must adjust to boarding, in some cases they may need time to adjust to being back home. Keep outdoor cats inside the home for a few days before allowing them outside. Give them a little time to feel at home again before sending them back out of the house.

If you have any questions on our policies or simply want to know more about how care is provided, call our office and we will be glad to ease any of your concerns.
